    Workforce management has evolved over the past few years

    What is meant by workforce management? 

    Workforce Management (WFM) grew out of a need to organize staff members efficiently but quickly evolved into a complex framework for managing human capital, budgeting, and scheduling staff ( White, 2020 ). 

    Simply put, workforce management is a series of integrated processes that allow companies to strategically optimize the productivity of their teams to ensure the optimal distribution of work resources. This process, therefore, makes it possible to optimize the performance of employees and the evolution of the organization!


    Generally, we often see large companies opt for a program that automatically manages all of these elements, such as the different management modules offered by MPEX Business Solutions. Workforce management systems allow businesses to perform several essential tasks such as workload forecasting, scheduling, time tracking, performance management, compliance, and job administration of compensation ( Shah, 2021 ).

    However, it has not always been so. 

    In the past, the tasks performed by workforce management software were attributed to an HR representative using a notebook and pen.     All in all, workforce management systems help direct the right people to the right tasks at the right times, which ultimately increases an organization's profits and productivity. At the same time, workforce management doesn't just focus on employee performance and schedules; it also determines how companies should invest in their employees long-term ( White, 2020 ).
